Year 1, Day 40

We plunked Jackson down in a field of pumpkins today, and he was just in awe. It's so exciting to observe him when he's seeing something for the first time in his entire life. That's what I loved about teaching preschool. When you are part of that moment, at that exact second, when a child is discovering something for the first time. People always say that having children makes you appreciate the little things, but it's an understatement really. It was a long time, before now, that I could have told you which flowers grew in our complex, or what color the trees were that lined our streets. It was a lifetime ago that I layed on a blanket and looked up at the clouds, or spent an afternoon taking a hayride through a farm.

What I learned today: What I remembered about life today, was that it's the little things that are most precious. I will always remember our family trip to the farm this afternoon, as Jackson's first time experiencing these things. In every single day, there are these captured moments in time. Keep them close to your heart and don't let any pass you by . . .
