Happy 1 year and 200th day of life Jackson Wells. Today we celebrated with a trip to park at my old elementary school. It was heaven to be outside and just letting him run and play felt like a gift. He had free reign to explore, run the baseball diamonds, slide, and climb.
Today, at 1:30, we also celebrated the first day of Spring. I'm a true New Englander, so I won't get my hopes up that we are done with measurable snowfall, but a slight part of me feels like reaching this very day is a step toward letting go of Winter with some amount of certainty. Do I dare remind myself of the April Fools Day storm those recent years back? I can only hope that the birds chirping and the warm weather are here for good. Besides, I saw buds blooming and flowers popping through the soil, so I just don't think they would risk their lives if they weren't partly certain that the warmth was sticking around.
How glorious to send Jackson outside without a coat, mittens, or a hat. I took his snow gear back home from daycare, refusing to admit that we could be hammered again. He LOVES scrambling about without being bogged down with outwear. He's his mother's son in that regard. As I am my father's daughter. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree now, does it?
