Year 1, Day 249

Dear Jackson,
And we've come to that point in development again, when I am certain that things are about to get completely chaotic. I was thinking, this morning, how 20 months is smooth sailing. You are becoming more independent, following simple directions, wanting to do things for yourself, and saying words that I can understand. For the most part, we communicate well.

I was even astonished by the fact that you are boycotting your high chair and refuse to eat unless you are in a real chair. Unfortunately, your hand-eye coordination when it comes to using utensils does not pair well with this new demand of yours, so we have a very messy mealtime. But, it keeps you happy and eating, so we all make sacrifices.  Having an immaculately clean home is an expectation that I threw out the window when I gave birth.

So, I stand at attention ready for the next stage we are about to enter, as this one feels "mastered" as much as it can be.  I'm ready for the chaos and the new challenges. In an odd way, I look forward to the wreckage, because out of the rubble there is always something more beautiful than I could have imagined at that moment.
