Year 1, Day 259

I never tried Feta cheese until college. I didn't know that goats or sheep produced milk that humans would consume. To me, milk came from cows. I was an american cheese girl, no frills, no gourmet cheese and wine parties in my agenda book. Brie was wasted on me (even though it actually is technically cow cheese).

I've since branched out, and tend to enjoy a sprinkle of feta here and there, on a greek salad.  While Jackson ate his tomatoes and cucs tonight, he glanced over to see me eating some white stuff on my salad.  He said repeatedly "WHAT THIS?" So I tell him "cheese". He LOVES cheese. He insisted on eating some, so I handed over a crumble of feta.

I have NEVER seen him spit out something so fast in his life. He made me feel like I tricked him and he would never trust me again.  Feta tasted like dog doodo. He did everything he could to wipe it out of his mouth.  So, needless to say, Jackson is an american cheese kinda guy for the time being. He'll also eat a mild cheddar when he's feeling adventurous.  I should have known better. I'm certain that I lost all trust in getting him to try new foods for some time.  OMG, can children even eat feta? I'm sure it's on the "DO NOT feed your child under age 2 " list. It's probably not "pasturized" or something . . . I'm a crappy mom.

Mark and Holly Rourke's daughter Kelly *LOVED* feta. I mean, we're talking absolute favorite food between the ages of 1 and 3.

Win some, lose some. :)

Chris is right. She used to eat Feta right from the plastic box with nothing else. So you never know. Maybe he'll like goat cheese. hahaha!

You're the "Best Mom". Just ask Jackson about his Mama and watch his face light up.
