Year 1, Day 269

Don't try so hard.  That is what I learned today.

                         *ALERT* ALERT* ALERT*
"Friday is PAJAMA day at daycare . . . don't forget to dress your child in PJs!!"

So, all week, like a paranoid mother, I plastered post it notes around the house to remind myself about Friday. For God sakes Kristy, don't let him be the only one without jammies. Don't disappoint your son, on this very fun day, that he is being reminded of ALL week. Countdown to Pajama Day!! Don't let your son be an outcast.

Around Wednesday of this week, I started thinking about his pajamas and taking stock of the clean laundry.  Laundry in a condo situation isn't the same as throwing in a load at home.  Laundry takes time, days of energy, money, and a lot of prep that I didn't have this week.  So I contemplated.  Could he wear a fleece pj with feet that has been packed away? Was it going to be 90 degrees on Friday?  Where did all his summer jammies go?  They were all dirty...and not nearly as cute.

So I headed off to Target on my lunch break Thursday in search of the perfect PJ. Lightweight, with feet, and not obnoxious.  I wanted something cute, simple, comfortable, and on sale.  I couldn't find it.

So I headed off to Old Navy.  After finding 2 bathing suits for him and a hat on sale, I stumbled across some monkey PJs with short sleeves and no feet...but they would have to do.  I wasn't going to another store, and he LOVES monkeys anyway. I didn't see this as being the issue of epic proportions that it turned out to be.

Friday morning: YAY!! It's pajama day!! Jackson completely refuses the new PJs and runs to his dresser.  He OPENS the drawer and yanks out his FLEECE monkey feet pjs and attempts to put them on. He wants NOTHING to do with summer monkey pjs I just bought . . .

So on with the fleece...and what a wonderful pajama day he had!
