Year 1, Day 281

Anyone with children, that I have ever come across and had an extended conversation with, ALWAYS says "enjoy this time (infant stage), because it passes by so quickly."  It's true of course.  But, like those wiser and older than us, it is always difficult to fully understand words of wisdom until you are in that space.

Looking back on which pictures I would choose for the blog today, I realized how much I didn't know Jackson in those weeks and months after his birth. It's odd to think that in those snapshots, his whole personality hadn't evolved yet.  Now, I see those month old pictures, and I can make out the current day, coy smile that he flashes for attention. Or, the face he makes right after I find him doing something a bit mischevious.

As far as personality, Jackson is bubbling over with it. He is abounding with energy, curious but cautious, determined, but willing to get help.  He is a tough cookie with a sensitive side, and a daddy's boy at heart. His giggle and his belly laughing capture all attention, and his smile lightens up a room.  Yesterday, a teacher from daycare said "Jack is just always smiling and laughing.  He laughs at anything - even at his food." The teacher, in secrecy, said "I know I'm not supposed to have favorites but . . . ya know . . ."

Taking people's advice, I feel as though I captured as many moments as I could before they escaped before my eyes, and Jackson became a toddler. At that point in time, a baby is before you representing an entire life full of hope and promise, with no forseeable limitations. They are the moments when your child's life is completely unwritten . . .
