I was attacked by a zebra yesterday. Completely unprovoked, this animal charged me from behind and whacked me in the forehead with incredible force. I even sustained a hoof mark to prove it.
I was holding Jackson at the moment of the attack. And, he was holding his plastic zebra, that might has well have been made of lead. Why hadn't I heeded the warnings? Clearly stated on the zebra's packaging, at the time of his purchase, stood a warning that this "toy" was intended for children 3 and up. That baffled me. Why wouldn't Jackson be able to play with this plastic zebra at 22 months? It has no loose parts, it is solid, and it's too large to be a choking hazard. So, I bought the damn zebra, and a few other animal friends to start his zoo.
But, the zebra betrayed me. His pointy plastic body, when jammed into my skull, clearly was not an appropriate toy for my little one at this stage of rocky temperment. One second, Jackson is kissing the zebra, and the next, the animal is air borne, a missle in midflight, ready to attack anyone it encounters.
Note to self: when you see an age recommendation on a toy, it's not necessarily because it can harm your child prior to that age. It could be for your own protection!
