Year 1, Day 11

I really didn't anticipate that I'd witness a dramatic change in Jackson once I returned from my weekend trip. But, he just LOOKED older than when I left him. Granted, I had never been away from him that long, but I truly didn't think he'd cross that threshold of crawling to walking in less than 72 hours! He also came home from Grammie's with the cutest, most endearing little things that she had taught him. Just by muttering "night night Jackson," he immediately goes into search mode until he lands his little face into something soft. He rests his head on it for about one second, before popping back up again and repeating his fun game. Jackson does that to any plush object in sight . . . it is very precious to watch and entertaining to play. It was not so entertaining for the kitty however. Miles the cat is a silky, plump, cotton ball of orange fur. His little cat body just shouts out "come bury your face in my white, puffy tummy." Yah, not a good idea. Miles doesn't like that game much.

The one thing I learned today: Not only did Jackson do perfectly fine without me this weekend, but he actually came back a whole new little man. He learned so much, spent a tremendous amount of quality time with his Daddy and Grammie, and came back so happy and content. Not only that, but the bonus: I returned fully refreshed and ready to be a better mom and wife...note to self - taking moments away to relax and rejuvenate really does make a difference. Just trust that life can go on without you there for a bit, because it can, just fine!
