Year 1, Day 15

Okay, so God, or whoever/whatever you think created life on earth, really put an extreme amount of thought into how things were just going to work out perfectly. Is it a coincidence that once Jackson got heavier than a ton of bricks and I can no longer carry him, WALLAH, he walks? Is it truly coincidental that just when I feel like I mastered one stage of his life and our routine, and I think I have it down, WALLAH, the next stage emerges and life is in flux again? I am just in awe of this whole process. It's been a year, and looking at his little face, after staring at his alien ultrasound picture, it blows my mind how this little boy is laughing, smiling, breathing, and just living outside in this world. He's 3 times bigger than when he was in his little water sac, he has stretched 12 inches longer, and he responds to voices, understands, and learns so much everyday. It's so cliche to say what a miracle it is, but it truly is the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed. When talking about all this to a friend at work today, we marveled in how quickly babies grow and how much it must hurt to grow at such a fast pace.

I think that Jackson grew out of his little jeans last night. They fit this weekend, and when I went to zip and button them this morning, there was no chance on this green earth, that his little bum was going to make it in there. Besides that, he looked like he was waiting for a flood. Maybe the dryer was too hot. I don't know. I was perplexed, but not against the thought that he really could have grown out of them this week. He's been pretty cranky, so the growing pains might have caused his mood swings. If I grew 2 inches in a few days, I'm sure I'd be suckin' down the Motrin and swearing like a trucker driver. It has to be painful.

The one thing I learned today: You'll never be faced with more than you can handle. Once you master the lesson in one part of life, the door closes, and you are faced with other challenges. Take it all in stride, because this too, will pass.
