Year 1, Day 33

For any moment that I have guilt pangs over Jackson being at daycare, I need to remember this very scene:

Jackson was cradled on my hip just yearning to go home. While I tried to put his arms through his jacket sleeves, he turned to look inside the open door at daycare. Over on the changing table was his little friend Eric. Eric is a few months older than Jackson but truly a spitting image of him with his nearly bald, blonde hair. Eric glanced over while being changed and sent Jackson a great big smackaroo through the door. He sent his kiss flying and coupled it with a huge wave goodbye. Jackson reciprocated and flew his kiss through the air. Before we realized, Danny, the oldest of all the boys, had run over to the climber and started waving goodbye to Jackson as well. Only one year old, they have an unspoken language - a brotherhood amongst them. At times, you can watch them all playing soccer while they chase each other around the room. On those days when it is terribly hard to leave him, I can know that he truly does have friends that he spends the day with and enjoys being around.

The one thing I learned today: Jackson gives out his kisses very selectively. So, to be a recipricant of his love, is to be completely adored and cherished. Jackson waved his little hand and sent kisses out the children that were left as if to say "Hey guys, see you tomorrow. I'm going home with my mama! Thanks for a fun day." No words were needed - just a flash of his smile and the understood agreement that they'd all meet back - same time, same place the next day.
