Year 1, Day 35

At work, moms of potential applicants call me everyday to talk about their girls and how they are completely suited to Winsor. They do this with one caveat of course: that they are aware all moms must call me and say these wonderful things about their daughters, but that their daughter is really different. She is special. I didn't understand that until I had Jackson. A mother just can't be impartial when talking about her child. I seriously think that Jackson Robert Wells is the cutest darn boy on the face of this earth, with the most friendly and charming demeanor, and a great little brain to boot. I know, I'll pay for it when he is thirteen somehow, but I am just going to revel in his good moods and his friendliness to everyone for the time being. And, hope it lasts a lifetime.

Today he really understood that I was playing with him, when I chased him around like a nut. For the first time, he understood the game, and flipped out in excitement trying to flee from me. Squeals of laughter would follow my promise of "I'm gonna get you!!" and he would just melt in laughter. Then, the kisses. A barrage of kisses and he laughed so hard, he couldn't even swallow. Jackson is at such a wonderful age right now. His big laugh just makes me cry - it is so precious.

What I learned today: A bad day can really turn around for you, if you let it. My day started by a shower, getting dressed, and then literally crawling back into my bed fully clothed and yearning to stay there all day and get some ZZZZZs. I was exhausted. But, I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and Jackson made all the difference.
