With one look around our disheveled home, it's become blatantly obvious that Jackson didn't learn his new skill from us. At day care, yet again, he acquired a new habit that had not been passed on from mom or dad. Today we learned that Jack picks up his toys and then remarkably puts them away when he is done with them. Developmentally, I was not aware that a small tyke of his age and stature could comprehend much less complete the task of returning an object back to its place. Again I was misled, Jackson is a genius!
Our bedroom is quite cluttered to say the least, but tonight, Jackson went to town. With the turn of my back, he put my running shoes away in my dresser drawer, pulled out EVERY sock he could find within a mile radius and delivered them to his sock box. After finishing with the bedroom, Jackson made his way to the kitchen. He scoured the kitchen floor looking for remnants of Miles' last feast. Then he gestured towards the kitchen sink with his hands full of cat food. He did not relent until I lifted him up so that he could throw the bits of food down the drain! So thanks to Jackson, we have a nice clean home tonight albeit missing a few items in random places and having no socks for tomorrow morning. As sure as the sun rises tomorrow, my little monkey has given me motivation to tackle my cluttered desk at work. Again, a day never goes by where he doesn't surprise me. It's always easy to learn something from him every day.
