Year 1, Day 133

It didn't take long at all. Jackson is the ring leader in his toddler room. I quietly observed him today at pick up time, as he played in the kitchen area with Danny and a few other boys. Though not ready for Iron Chef yet, I have high hopes for my boy. He is completely into "kitchen" play, and seems to rising to position of Head chef. Like the Pied Piper, the boys followed him, with plates and spoons in hand, as he marched over to the sinks. He was hoping to get a good clean plate before making dinner - I'm certain, since he has a great fascination with cleaning and wiping things down lately. The boys followed suit and paraded over to the sinks to "wash dishes".

A call from the lead teacher echoed through the air "Boys, no washing at the sinks - food stays in the kitchen area!" Yahhhh...that was my boy. He had corralled them all to the bathroom area with dishes in hand. They were ready to work. Jackson took it in stride though. He retreated and started baking instead, as did the other boys. It wasn't until he had to part with the snack bowl and the serving spoon, did I get a meltdown. Refusing to leave his play, I had quite a moment struggling to get the darn jacket on his body. Note to self: buy childrens coats at least one size bigger for the ease of arm entry. Even if it's a smidgen small, DON'T buy it at all, regardless of the fact that it's the last one in the store, you are completely in love with it, and all other winter coats are sold out within a 50 mile radius. You will thank yourself.
