Funny story this afternoon, that explains my life in simple terms. I always try to MAKE things happen with little success, and it's when I finally give up trying so hard, that it actually happens. For instance, trying to get Jackson to do something that he is not fond of (like wearing a hat), can be a monumental challenge. During this winter, it was a warm day in hell when he would wear a hat, and keep it on, without a struggle. Today, Mr. winter fleece hat was uncovered from behind the bookcase. Jackson literally gasped with excitement, as though it was a long time friend that had went missing. He HATED that darn hat, and we had struggled every moment to keep it on his head. Well, true to my life - tonight, in Mid May, he wouldn't let it go. Jackson wore this fleece hat for 3 hours this evening, and even tried to wear it in the bath. Adorning a diaper and a fleecy red hat, he read books, brushed his teeth, rode on his horse, and danced to the purple dinosaur I refuse to name.
It was a funny sight. I always wondered how children end up wearing tutus to the grocery store, or spider man costumes to a restaurant, but I completely understand now. If I had to go somewhere with him tonight, there was NO removing this hat, unless I wanted to carry around a blob of hot mess and ruin the entire night. Hello long lost WINTER HAT - I embrace the new relationship formed with Jackson, and only hope that SUMMER HAT will be as exciting.

Maybe we can graduate him to a helmet to limit the boo boos from daycare :) LOL....
