Year 1, Day 55

Jackson has a fascination with throwing things away. In daycare, they tried to take the trash out of the room, and Jackson ran over throwing his cars in the garbage, one by one. At home, he gathers his socks, and makes his way to the trash where he drops them in, one by one. If he can't find something to throw away, he'll attempt to reach in and pull something out, so that he can rip it and put it back in. He even heads over to the toilet paper, unravels a few feet, and then rips it into shreds, only to throw it away directly in the trash.

Well, it's good to learn at any early age tha Jackson doesn't have hoarding tendencies I suppose. I am glad Jackson is not a hoarder. If he is set on throwing things away, I see nothing wrong with it, except we might want to teach him about recycling as early as possible. Mike and I watch a show called "Hoarders" on occasion. It details the lives of people that are strangely attached to objects and unable to rid them from their living spaces. They are usually at their last straw and on the verge of eviction. All the cases are to the extreme of course, for cheap entertainment value and exploitation of real life people with psychological problems. It's sad that we even turn it on sometimes, but I suppose we all have guilty pleasures. Anyway, I divulge this information because at work, I am known for throwing everything out. "You really wanted the packing slip?" and "Ohhh..you looking for those old pamplets, sorry!" Anything I don't need in that moment is just clutter to be discarded. So, maybe that's where Jackson gets his new fascination of letting things go. Either that, or he is just tickled with the sound a toy car makes as it hits the bottom of the trash. And, it could be true that he actually hates his socks, and really just wants to get rid of them forever. He's just that smart.
