Jackson's daycare teacher had never seen him so happy. She couldn't remember a time that she saw a bigger smile from him. He was completely flabergasted and in utter disbelief. In his little mind, he was surely thinking "is this woman actually going to give me TRIX for breakfast??" It was the center's Spring Fling, and they had a variety of yummy foods to eat. Since Jackson's parents are degenerates and couldn't make it to the class party this morning, he was parentless. To make up for his sorrow, they decided to load him up on 46% sugar cereal to get his mind off things.
It worked. He didn't even know that we weren't there. He took one bite of TRIX, and you would have thought the world dissolved around him. Nothing mattered but the next bite. He cried incessently for the fruity sweetened corn puffs, and then MAGIC happened . . .
He was given a small bowl with TRIX to hold on his own and eat at his own pace (which means stuffing them in his mouth and chipmunking them) You would have thought he was the King of the World. There was NOTHING better on God's green earth than the cereal before him.
I'm not certain that I can remember a time when I was so easily satisfied. It doesn't take much to make a one and a half year old happy. Isn't that a lesson for all of us?
