Year 1, Day 277

Jackson embarked on his first trip to "Toys R Us" tonight.  Eyes wide open, he sat in the cart just taking it all in, and trying to process the sheer amount of toys in front of him.  At one point, I think he drooled down the front of his shirt, because he had forgotten to swallow  Though our main purpose was to leave with a birthday present, we also planned for Jack to leave with something to commemorate the trip.  But what?  On the way, he said that he would like a "truck."

Faced with choices from CAT replicas, and motorized trucks, to matchbox cars, and trains, he immediately zoomed on the vehicle that he would give up Patsy for...in a heartbeat.  "THAT!?" "THAT!!" he said, as he pointed to the firetruck and said "WEEOOO WEEOOO."

He was in heaven.  Here's the reminder to myself, when we embark on future adventures related to shopping in general.  We made the mistake of letting him pick out a toy BEFORE finding what we came to buy in the first place. While he waited for Mommy to finish shopping, the BOX that held the shiny truck did not entertain him in the least bit. He wanted the darn thing out, and it was a big tease.  Of course, it's a good lesson in patience for the little guy . . . which we could all use a little more of in this world plagued by the need for immediate satisfaction.
