We are all "supermoms". I have to remember that. It's very easy for me to feel inadequate when I gather around other mothers with children of the same age. I find myself wondering how other mothers seem to "have it all together" and how balance seems to come so easily for them. I, on the other hand, often feel equivalent to a sub par PTO mom that forgot to show up to the PTO meeting I haphazardly arranged. (Do those even exist anymore? I feel like that was so 1980s, but I'm sure you catch my drift).
But I digress. As a mother, I have to feel as though each of us comes to the table with a special skill and a way that truly makes us look like "supermom" in other people's eyes. For instance, two moms that I know make beautiful, thoughtful birthday invitations for their children's parties . . . some mothers I know, cook all day on Sunday to have specially prepared meals each week night. I know mothers that bake instead of buy cookies more than once a week and ones that go to music classes, yoga classes, and art classes with their children. It all comes down to one thing - whether you are a chef, a baker, an artist, a crafter, a sport fanatic, a storyteller, a writer . . . we are all incredible mothers that bring special gifts to our children.
